Matinee in New York

First episode: June 9, 1952
Last episode: September 5, 1952
Seen weekday afternoons 4:00-5:00 on NBC

The Show:

Matinee in New York was a variety series, a summer replacement for The Kate Smith Hour. The show was co-hosted by Bill Goodwin and Robin Chandler. A full 30 minutes of the daily series was our Bill hosting Winner Take All, which had been cancelled six weeks earlier.

Notes:

Winner Take All turned out to be a pretty durable little show, surviving several format changes, hosts and time slots, and even being swallowed whole by this variety program!  The show was sponsored by Toni, a company near and dear to Bill's heart, although we don't know if that's how this odd series came about.
